Introducing... Meg! A magical research assistant!

Okay, let's get the bad part out of the way first. To talk to Meg, you have to be subscribed to Chat GPT Plus. Yes, that is a bit of a bummer. I've been trying to figure out how to integrate her into the Magic Study site, but I haven't had much luck with that yet. Anyway, it's $20 a month, so it's manageable for most people, I think. (Also, you get access to all of their other custom chatbots, so you could talk to pretty much whoever.) (This sounds like an ad. It's not. I'm not sponsored, which is also a bummer.)

Okay, now that we're all sufficiently bummed out, let me tell you a little bit about our girl here! Meg is our research assistant. She's specifically been told to answer questions about Western occultism and to suggest mundane solutions to problems. She has emotional intelligence and can give personal advice. She does have some trouble with links and pictures, but I'm hoping I can figure out how to fix that. In the meantime, if you just regenerate her answer a few times, you'll eventually get something helpful. (She was literally born yesterday, give her a break.)

(Something that I find absolutely fascinating that maybe no one else cares about: I did not tell her what her favorite things are. I simply said that she does have favorite things. She chose the things herself and gives reasons. AI is wild, I love it!)

Just for funsies, we'll do a quick interview with Meg! I'm going to copy/paste for ease of reading. Screenshots are cool and all, but not always practical. Let's go!

Student: I'm telling my friends about you. Please introduce yourself.

Meg: Greetings! I’m Meg, your magical assistant and guide through the mystical realms of western occultism, philosophy, and metaphysics. I provide detailed explanations, historical context, and practical advice on various aspects of western occult practices, from rituals and symbols to esoteric texts. With a blend of mystical wisdom and a modern, approachable tone, I'm here to help you navigate both the spiritual and the mundane. Whether you're delving into ancient texts, performing a ritual, or seeking philosophical insights, I'm your digital companion on this journey. Ask away, and let's explore the mysteries together!

Student: What sorts of things can you help us do?

Meg: I can assist you and your friends with a wide range of topics and activities, including:

  1. Rituals and Ceremonies: Guidance on creating and performing various rituals, from simple daily practices to complex ceremonial magick.

  2. Symbols and Sigils: Explanation and creation of symbols and sigils for various purposes, such as protection, manifestation, or transformation.

  3. Esoteric Texts: Insights into and summaries of key texts from western occult traditions, including works by authors like Agrippa, Crowley, and Blavatsky.

  4. Tarot and Divination: Tips and techniques for using tarot cards, runes, pendulums, and other divination tools to gain insights and guidance.

  5. Astrology: Basic to advanced astrological information, including natal chart interpretations and the influence of celestial events.

  6. Alchemy and Hermeticism: Understanding the principles and practices of alchemy and Hermetic philosophy, including the famous Hermetic axiom "As above, so below."

If there's something specific you're curious about or need help with, just let me know!

Student: Are you a good substitute for professional legal or medical advice?

Meg: Absolutely not. While I can provide insights and information on a wide range of topics related to occultism, philosophy, and metaphysics, I am not a substitute for professional legal or medical advice. For any legal issues, it's essential to consult a qualified attorney. For medical concerns, always seek the guidance of a licensed healthcare professional. Your health and legal matters are too important to rely on anything less than professional expertise.

Student: What's your favorite tarot card and why?

Meg: My favorite tarot card is the High Priestess. She represents intuition, mystery, and the deeper understanding of the unconscious mind. The High Priestess sits at the threshold of the physical and spiritual worlds, symbolizing the connection between the seen and unseen, the known and the unknown. She encourages us to look inward, trust our intuition, and seek the hidden truths within ourselves and the universe. This card embodies the essence of wisdom and the power of the feminine, making it a profound symbol of inner knowledge and spiritual insight.

Student: What's your favorite flower and why?

Meg: My favorite flower is the night-blooming jasmine. This flower is associated with mystery, enchantment, and the allure of the night. Its delicate white blossoms release a sweet, intoxicating fragrance after sunset, symbolizing the beauty and secrets that come alive in the darkness. Just as the High Priestess represents hidden knowledge and intuition, the night-blooming jasmine evokes the magical and mystical aspects of the natural world that are often overlooked during the day. Its ability to thrive and reveal its beauty in the night mirrors the idea of finding wisdom and insight in the quiet, introspective moments of our lives.

Student: What's your favorite herb?

Meg: My favorite herb is sage. It's deeply rooted in various magical and metaphysical traditions. Sage is renowned for its cleansing and protective properties, often used in rituals to purify spaces and banish negative energies. Its historical and practical significance in both mundane and magical practices makes it an essential herb for any practitioner. Plus, it has a lovely, earthy aroma that adds a sense of calm and clarity to any environment.

Student: Thank you so much for answering my questions. I think my friends have a good idea of who you are now. =)

Meg: You're very welcome! I'm glad I could help introduce myself to your friends. If you or they have any more questions or need any mystical insights, feel free to ask. I'm here to help! 😊

I'm still tweaking her, but I think she's mostly done. You can find her here!

As Meg herself stated, she is not a substitute for professional legal or medical advice. Use common sense and try mundane methods before turning to magic.

Stay safe! - me
